The Italian Government welcomes the enhanced transparency that has been achieved with the publication of these results.

The results of the stress test carried out with reference to five big Italian banking groups show their capital adequacy and resilience, even in the most adverse and less likely scenarios.

The changeover took place smoothly. By 2 January about 150m had been withdrawn from banks and cash dispensers, and around 40% of people in Malta and Cyprus had only or mostly euro cash in their wallets and purses. Cyprus pounds and Maltese lira can still be used until 31 January, in parallel with the euro.

President Barroso congratulated both countries on their excellent preparations for eurozone membership.

After two or three days of workshops the two parties were ready to reconcile and we were suggesting to the elders of performing the traditional rites of reconciliation. And we normally received a reaction of the kind: "We cannot perform them, they would be useless and therefore fall into disrepute. Because the demons that are the cause of these hatred and killings are not from here. Those demons are from far away and so powerful the our traditional rites have no force against them".

Wen wants his country's development to happen "in a safe and clean manner". In particular, the prime minister has targeted six industrial areas that are growing very rapidly: energy, steel, petroleum refining, chemicals and metals. He noted that together these six industrial sectors consume 70% of all industrial energy capacity and noting that their activities have on average grown by 6.6% in the first three months of the year when compared to the same period in 2006. ]]></description>
